Paul Bird is an experienced rheumatologist and researcher, dedicated to the expert management of patients with all forms of arthritis and rheumatic disease. Professor Bird received his medical degree with Honours from the University of Newcastle and completed his physician and rheumatology training in Sydney. Pursuing research alongside clinical medicine and patient care, he completed a PhD in 2005 examining MRI in Rheumatoid arthritis, and a Graduate Diploma in MRI. He continues to undertake arthritis research with fellow Australian rheumatologists and with international colleagues.
A/Prof Fred Joshua is a dedicated physician for the treatment of rheumatic diseases. He has an expertise in rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis having completed a PhD in the use of ultrasound in rheumatoid arthritis and presenting research internationally in these areas.
A/Professor Arvin Damodaran is a consultant rheumatologist and medical educator based in Randwick, Sydney. He is in private practice at Rheumatology Specialist Care at the Randwick rooms, and has an appointment to the Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH), Randwick, where he provides specialist on-call, inpatient and outpatient services.
Associate Professor Vivek Thakkar is an experienced Australian-trained rheumatologist with over 20 years’ experience who offers excellent care that is accurate, personalised and compassionate. Associate Professor Thakkar completed his general medical and rheumatology sub-specialty training in Sydney, and then worked as a rheumatologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne
Tien Tay is committed to providing the highest level of clinical care for rheumatic disease. He is skilled in all aspects of rheumatic disease and has a special interest in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic vasculitis, including Giant cell arteritis and Polymyalgia Rheumatica.
Dr Ann Bacsi joined Integrated Specialists Medical Care in September 2019. In 2005 she obtained a PhD in vestibular reflexes and balance control form UNSW. She trained in Sydney (Prince of Wales Hospital) and London (Royal Free Hospital).
Dr Cathie Lane provides nephrology services within Integrated Specialist Medical Care as well as holding a position of staff specialist at St. George Public Hospital.
Dr Lane completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney (BPharm) before pursuing her medical studies at the University of Newcastle. After completing her specialisation as a nephrologist, she pursued a PhD at the University of New South Wales in medical education and has since held positions with the University of New South Wales as an educator.
Dr Leticia Deveza is a rheumatologist and Fellow of the RACP. She also holds a position as a lecturer and post doctoral fellow at the University of Sydney. She completed her PhD in 2019 and continues actively engaged in research and teaching of medical students. Dr Deveza acquired valuable experience as a rheumatology fellow at the RNSH from 2015 to 2018 before starting private practice. She is currently a rheumatology consultant at the North Sydney Sports Medicine Centre and Mt Wilga Private Hospital.
Dr Rajib Dutta is a highly skilled Pain Management Specialist. Before coming to Australia, he worked for many years as a Consultant in the United Kingdom where he completed his Pain Management and Anaesthetic training, in the renowned centres King’s College Hospital, London and Guys and St Thomas’s Hospitals, London.
He is an expert in treating patients with neck pain, lower back pain, leg pain, musculoskeletal and pelvic pain. As well as post-surgical pain, neuropathic pain, CRPS and conditions of widespread pain such as Fibromyalgia.
Dr Candice Khor completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales with honours and subsequently pursued a Master of Public Health. She completed her training as a nephrologist at various tertiary and regional centres including St George Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, Gosford and Wollongong Hospital. She subsequently undertook a fellowship in acute kidney injury at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Her research interests are in acute kidney injury and renal transplant. She is a conjoint associate lecturer at the University of New South Wales and is passionate about medical student and junior doctor education.
Sarah graduated in medicine at The University of NSW with MB BS and BSc(med) in 1996. She completed her training in general medicine and geriatrics at The Prince of Wales and St George Hospitals, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2006 as a specialist geriatrician.
Sarah is a senior staff specialist at St George and Greenwich Hospitals. She is also a conjoint lecturer at The University of New South Wales. Sarah pursued her interest in medical ethics and health law at Sydney University and was awarded a Masters of Bioethics in 2015.
Dr Jonathan Wright is a rheumatologist who will be joining Integrated Specialist Medical Care in Kogarah this October. Dr Wright completed his medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Wollongong in 2011 and has since earned his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in both Rheumatology and General Medicine. His training spans Australia and New Zealand, giving him a broad and comprehensive understanding of rheumatic conditions.
Dr Wright has a particular interest in managing inflammatory arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, as well as crystal arthropathies like gout and CPPD. He is also experienced in the treatment of fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and connective tissue diseases such as lupus and scleroderma.
Tamara Milder is a consultant endocrinologist with broad experience in all areas of adult endocrinology. She graduated from UNSW in 2011 with first class honours and completed her specialist endocrinology training at St Vincent’s Hospital in 2018 with a strong focus on diabetes and metabolism. She was awarded her PhD from UNSW in 2025. Her thesis focussed on quality use of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors – a critical medicine class for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. She continues to lead research projects about cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic health within the Medicines Intelligence Research Program at the School of Population Health, UNSW. Tamara holds appointments at St Vincent’s Private Hospital and St Vincent’s Clinic.
Dr Xiaoqian Liu is a dedicated Rheumatologist and researcher specialised at all aspects of musculoskeletal, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. She has ten years’ (2004-2014) working experience in Rheumatology in China and five years’ (2021-2025) experience as a Rheumatology Fellow at Royal North Shore Hospital. Her strength is to synthesize and utilise the latest evidence combined with her unique experience in her clinical practice to promote high quality personalised patient care.
She has more than ten years of clinical research background. She finished her master’s degree in China (2003-2006) and PhD (2015-2020) in The University of Sydney. She remains active in clinical research and medical teaching. She has fourteen publications as a leading author. She presented a number of impactful oral presentations in both national and international conferences including The American College of Rheumatology convergence, Joint New Zealand Rheumatology Association and Australian Rheumatology Association Annual Scientific Meeting.
